Prime Minister applauds freelancers
21.11.13
Today is National Freelancers Day 2013 and Prime Minister David Cameron has said that Britain 'owes a huge debt of gratitude' to the freelancers across the country.
Mr Cameron's comments come a week after Boris Johnson also heaped praise on self-employed workers in Britain. Mr Johnson described freelancer's contribution to the economy as 'immense.'
The Prime Minister's full message:
'Our country owes a huge debt of gratitude to the thousands of men and women who have decided to make their living as freelancers and entrepreneurs. You have not only taken your own future into your own hands, but you are the engine of our economy and economic revival. Indeed, SMEs are the very lifeblood of our country and of local communities across the land.
'My very best wishes on National Freelancers' Day'.
National Freelancers Day is an opportunity for the 1.7million freelancers to celebrate being self-employed, and to 'reflect on the power of the freelance model'.
