Minimum wage rises
01.10.13
The UK National Minimum Wage (NMW) has increased as of today (1st October 2013) from £6.19 to £6.31 for workers aged over 21 years.
At a time of financial prudence for most employers, this will be an unwanted increase to their costs. For those already outsourcing the supply of services to Consort, they will be unaffected by this change.
Meanwhile, the National Minimum Wage for 18-20 year-olds has increased by 5p and now sits at £5.03. For 16 to 17 year-olds, it has increased by 4p to £3.72.
According to a survey by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), 23% of 'small' companies have staff on minimum wage.
