HMRC offer free webinars
18.11.13
Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have organised a series of webinars next month to help contractors get their heads around issues such as expenses, bookkeeping and National Insurance.
On the 7th December 2013, HMRC will commence their 'Start-up Saturday webinar programme':
- 10am – 11am Self Employment and HMRC
This session concentrates on the information sole traders or partnerships need when they start. It covers registration, National Insurance, Self Assessment and record keeping.
- 2pm – 3pm Business expenses for the self-employed
Sole traders (self-employed) need to know which day-to-day expenses they are able to claim for tax relief. They also need to start keeping records of these as soon as the business starts. This webinar provides an overview of the most common expenses, including motoring costs.
- 4pm – 5pm VAT Awareness
New businesses are often worried about VAT, what it is and when they need to register. This webinar answers these questions and explains in simple terms how VAT works. This session takes place from 16.00 to 17.00.
As a self-employed contractor, it might be worth 'attending' one or two of these webinars to gain further knowledge of self-employment. There is also an opportunity to ask any questions regarding the specific subject. Click here for more information.
Consort can also point you in the direction of our partners Taxback.com if you need help with your tax return. For a reduced fee of £110 (normally £250), they will complete your tax return on your behalf. Click here to learn more.
