Debbie to compete in 85-mile walk

A member of the Consort team is competing in the 2013 Manx Telecom Parish Walk - the gruelling 85 mile walk which passes 17 parish churches.

Debbie, part of our operations team, will be up bright and early tomorrow in order to start the race at 8am, and hopes to get as far as her hometown of Peel, which is approximately 32 miles around the course.  

"I'm really looking forward to it, but the weather isn't looking too promising. I've never done anything like this before, but I've put in a lot of training and I can't wait. I'm not looking forward to the blisters afterwards!" she said.

Just over 1,400 people will compete in the walk, but only a small minority will complete the course – with an average time of around 18 hours. Only 206 people completed it last year out of around 1,800 starters.

It will be the 100th anniversary of the challenging event, which has previously been broadcast on Sky Sports.
