Daily £10 fines from today

01.05.13

As of today (Wednesday), a fine of £10 per day is issued by the HMRC if you are still yet to complete your self-assessment tax return for the 2011/12 tax year – for any income received between 6th April 2011 and 5th April 2012.

By missing the 31st January 2013 deadline, an automatic £100 fine is issued by the taxman. It has now been three months since that date, so HMRC will now start applying a £10 per day charge for every person who has yet to submit their return.

If your tax return still hasn't been filed after six months, there is a further fine of £300 or 5% of the tax due (whichever is the higher figure) – this penalty is repeated after 12 months.

If you still haven't filed your 2011/12 tax return, try using Taxback.com and pay a hugely reduced-fee of £110 (normally £250) to have them do your tax return for you. Click here to take advantage of this price and get your taxes back on track the easy way.
