27.08.13
The minimum cost of raising a child from their birth until their 18th birthday has risen by 4% to £148,105 according to recent research.
The study, conducted by Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) estimates that it costs two parents £160 per week. The cost is significantly higher for lone parents - £161,260 – which amounts to £172 per week.
With inflation rising quicker than wages, the results from the study will be a cause for concern for many families in Britain. Benefits for families rose by only 1% and average earnings only increased by 1.5%.
